APCO Announces Approval of Reaffirmed Standard Public Safety Communications Common Disposition Codes for Data Exchange
Alexandria, Va. – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International received final approval from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) on March 20, 2018, for a reaffirmed American National Standard (ANS) that identifies a standardized incident disposition code list which enables agencies to exchange vital incident information. The revision and re-designation process occurs every five years for all American National Standards. This ensures that all standards are up to date with current trends in operations, training and technology.
This standard provides a list of Common Disposition Codes for use by PSAPs and public safety when sharing incident information with disparate agencies and authorized stakeholders.
“APCO is the premiere standards development organization for public safety communications. Routine review and revision of our standards ensures essential operational requirements are up to date and relevant,” said APCO International President Martha Carter.
