The participants were Michigan APCO; The Southeast Michigan chapter of IEEE; Tin Lizzie Amateur radio club; the Belle Isle Conservancy; and sponsored by On Star. The event was organized by APCO Historian Rich Rybicki, retired Detroit Police radio technician.
The event was held April 7, 2018, at 2 p.m. in front of the old police station on Belle Isle park located at the Detroit River. The Tin Lizzie amateur radio club broadcasted on Saturday with the call sign of Kilo, Zero, Papa; (KOP). It’s one of the early call signs assigned to the Detroit Police Communications section. George Patak was in attendance with his restored 1963 Police car. The event was highlighted by the dedication of a sponsor marker attached to the historical marker erected for the 80th anniversary.
