New Release of Solacom Guardian Map Improves Location Capabilities for NG9-1-1

Company Representative June 21, 2018 Product & Service Announcements

CHICAGO, Ill., June 19, 2018 — Solacom, a leading provider of call handling and management solutions, announced today that a new release of Guardian Map is now ready for integration in public safety answering points (PSAPs). The new release of Solacom’s advanced, user-friendly, integrated mapping solution provides pinpointed caller information and enables call takers to handle calls directly from the map screen.

Engineered to capture and display critical call location information, Guardian Map integrates seamlessly with the Solacom Guardian 9-1-1 Call Handling solution and delivers complete geographic information system (GIS) spatial and geographic data to the desktop. This enables call takers to quickly confirm a caller’s precise location.

“Ideally, any advanced NG9-1-1 mapping application should display accurate 9-1-1 call location for landline, wireless, and text calls, and allow the call taker to manage those calls directly from the map,” says Nancy MacDonald, Solacom’s vice president of business development. “Guardian Map is one of the only ones right now that allows PSAPs to do this.”

The latest release offers:

  • Direct call control from the map screen
  • Visual breadcrumb trail to track moving callers
  • Call location displayed on the map before the call is answered
  • Call status (answered, released, muted, on-hold, abandoned) indicated on the map, assisting call takers to manage and prioritize calls
  • Zoom-in, zoom-out, center, and pan map views, allowing call takers to suggest the shortest, most accurate route to first responders

Guardian Map leverages location information from a GIS database that includes numerous location details that are not available from today’s Master Street Address Guide (MSAG), Emergency Service Number (ESN), and Automatic Location Information (ALI) databases. It also includes a powerful feature that allows it to query third-party databases to access the Advanced Mobile Location (AML) data a smartphone transmits when a 9-1-1 call is made.

Depending on the GIS capabilities of each PSAP, Guardian Map can display aerial imagery, building floor plans, stadium seating plans, and entrance locations, enabling call takers to accurately guide first responders to the most convenient entrance and the fastest path to the caller.

Solacom customers with Guardian Map as part of their call handling and management solution can migrate easily to the new release at no extra charge as part of their ongoing service agreement.
