Harris Corporation Successfully Demonstrates Mission Critical Video and Data at Second Annual Plugtest™ Event

Company Representative July 19, 2018 Industry

LYNCHBURG, Va., July 19, 2018 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) successfully demonstrated its capabilities in Mission Critical Data (MCDATA) and Mission Critical Video (MCVIDEO) solutions during the second annual Mission Critical Push-To-Talk (MCPTT) Plugtest™ held recently in College Station, TX. Building on last year’s successful MCPTT interoperability demonstrations, Harris this year demonstrated the interoperability of voice, data and video.

Harris was one of 30 telecommunications companies worldwide to participate in the event. The goal was to validate the interoperability of mission critical capabilities using more than 100 different scenarios and test cases. In addition to telecommunication companies, dozens of observers from US state and federal agencies, law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel were joined by international representatives from Belgium, Canada, Norway, France, Sweden, Finland and UK.

Since participating in the Federal Communications Commission’s Technical Advisory Board in  2012, Harris has been at the forefront of Mission Critical Services. Harris has actively participated in developing the 3GPP standards and Mission Critical Services.

“Harris showcased our clear commitment to standards compatibility and interoperability,” said Bill Arakelian, engineering director, Harris Public Safety and Professional Communications. “We built on our portfolio of Mission Critical Services beyond Mission Critical PTT this year with the addition of our MCDATA and MCVIDEO solutions. Harris intends to make these capabilities available to the public safety community in a series of releases beginning in 2019.”

The Plugtest™ event was organized by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) in partnership with TCCA, the Public Safety Communications Research (PSCR) division of the National Institute of Standards and Testing (NIST) and the European Commission.
