APCO Launches APCO IntelliComm™ in an Ohio 9-1-1 Center
Las Vegas, NV – August 6, 2018 – APCO International announced today that the Union Township Police Department (OH) has launched the first live installation of APCO IntelliComm™, a new configurable system designed to streamline the way emergency communications centers gather and process data in real-time from 9-1-1 calls while improving the guidance about the incident they provide to both the responder and the citizen in distress. The announcement was made by APCO Executive Director and CEO Derek K. Poarch at the association’s Annual Conference and Expo in Las Vegas, NV.
“The successful launch of APCO IntelliComm ushers in a new era for our profession,” Poarch said. “APCO is excited to bring IntelliComm’s 21st century capabilities to emergency communication centers across the country.”
APCO IntelliComm provides an efficient method for emergency communications professionals to obtain relevant information from 9-1-1 callers while providing those same callers with instructional guidance to assist with their emergency of a medical, police or fire nature as help is on the way. Meanwhile, responders have prompt access to critical data for improving their situational awareness and response decisions about the same call.
The most vital element in any emergency dispatch situation is the quick and accurate exchange of relevant information, which can mean the difference between life and death.
APCO IntelliComm, supported by IBM Watson Analytics, is a major advancement over other guidecard software in terms of data security, system adaptability, and equipping agencies with cognitive tools such as smart data discovery, predictive analytics and trend analysis that allow the professionals in emergency communications centers (ECCs) to access and interact with 9-1-1 call data in ways never before possible. APCO IntelliComm also includes enhanced features for optimizing quality assurance efforts in call taking and dispatching.
“The Union Township Police Department is proud to be first in the nation to implement APCO IntelliComm,” said Chief Scott Gaviglia. “The program, which is fully integrated with our computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system, will provide Union Township with more advanced capabilities to better serve our police and fire agencies, as well as Union Township residents and all citizens in our care. APCO IntelliComm assists our agency in supporting our mission of pride, progress and professionalism.”
“Congratulations to Union Township for being the first agency to implement APCO IntelliComm,” added Poarch. “And thank you to Alert Public Safety Solutions for becoming our first CAD partner to launch the software in a live environment.”
APCO IntelliComm is being showcased in the APCO Pavilion (booth 1031) in the Sands Expo Center today from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. PDT and tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. PDT.
