APCO Looking for Volunteers to Begin Work on Two Standards
Alexandria, VA –The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International filed a Project Initiation Notification for the following standards development projects:
- Core Competencies and Minimum Training Standards for Public Safety Communications Manager/Director (Revision)
- Detecting Early Warning Symptoms of Stress in Public Safety Telecommunicators (New Standard)
APCO is looking for volunteers to participate in working groups to contribute their knowledge of operations, training or technical aspects of the emergency communications center. The time and day that the working group will meet is yet to be established. It is anticipated that the groups will meet via conference calls twice monthly for the duration of this project. Calls typically last no more than one-hour per session.
“APCO International is the premiere public safety communications standards setting body. From refining the current manager/director standard to establishing standards for identifying early warning symptoms of stress, these projects are in alignment with APCO’s ongoing efforts to address important issues related to the emergency communications centers’ workforce,” said Holly Wayt, President of APCO International.
Interested persons can find additional information and an online application on the APCO International Working Group web page.
The application deadline is March 17, 2019. Selections will be made within two weeks of the deadline and all applicants will be notified of their status.
