APCO Announces New FirstNet Track as Part of Its Annual Conference & Expo

Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International announces the addition of a FirstNet-themed professional development track to the already diverse educational program at APCO International’s Annual Conference & Expo (APCO 2019), taking place August 11-14, 2019, in Baltimore, Maryland.

The FirstNet track will feature senior leadership from the FirstNet Authority, and representatives from the public safety community and industry who will discuss how FirstNet’s efforts and advancements in public safety broadband are transforming emergency communications and helping protect communities nationwide. The addition of the FirstNet track brings the total number of professional development tracks offered at APCO 2019 to ten.

“APCO strives to provide attendees with the latest developments in emergency communications, and the addition of the FirstNet track strengthens the educational offerings at APCO 2019,” said Derek K. Poarch, Executive Director and CEO, APCO International. Poarch added, “we constantly refresh our program to ensure that it serves the needs of our members.”

The track will include a town hall as well as topics covering the relationship between FirstNet and NG9-1-1, managing broadband data including in a mobile tactical setting, network evolution and the public safety apps ecosystem.
