The Power of “On Scene Eyes” When Calling 9‑1‑1

When a call comes into 9-1-1, understanding what is wrong, where the caller is and who is in danger, as quickly and clearly as possible, can make all the difference in getting the right response to the incident. Saving time and gaining a clear picture of the emergency save vital time for the person in danger — and could even safe their life.

The challenge public safety telecommunicators (PSTs) face is that callers are often under a lot of stress, and panic or uncertainty can greatly impact the information they’re able to give. They may not know where they are — or feel able to accurately describe it. They may not know exactly what happened, to relay the severity of the incident. They may be in shock or feeling upset, clouding their ability to think clearly.

Its in responding to these emergency calls that 911eye comes into its own. This game changing technology allows the PST to send a link to the caller’s phone, which, when selected, instantly streams video or pictures to the communication centre. Not only can the PST now see what the caller can see, they can view their location plotted on a map in front of them, helping to quickly identify exactly where they are and what help is required.

911eye helps with:

  • Live caller location
  • Faster, more reliable decision making
  • ‘On scene eyes’ for better situational awareness.

“911eye is going to fundamentally alter the way we respond to calls. Its going to take ‘tell me something’ to ‘show me something’.”

Lisa Parker, Chief of Police, Manchester PD
