APCO Files a Project Initiation and Seeks Work Group Members to Revise the Standard for Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce (TERT) Deployment

APCO International April 9, 2020 APCO

Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International has filed a Project Initiation with ANSI and has issued a call for participation for work group members to participate in the revision of the APCO Standard for Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce (TERT) Deployment.

“Over the past 15 years, the TERT program has been an established entity to provide assistance to requesting jurisdictions during disasters,” said Tracey Hilburn, President of APCO International. “This revision will update and refresh the best practices guidelines, operational models and tools contained in this critically important standard.”

Representatives from APCO, the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) and public safety communications personnel are invited to participate in the revision of the current standard.

APCO is looking for a well-balanced group that will include contributions from training, technical and operational subject matter experts from the public safety communications realm. The time and day that the work group will meet is yet to be established. It is anticipated that the group will meet via conference calls twice monthly for the duration of this project and calls typically last no more than one-hour per session.

All interested persons should complete the online application and indicate their preference for this work group. The deadline is May 10, 2020. Selections will be made within two weeks of the deadline and all applicants will be notified of their status.
