Meet Your AFC Advisor: Diana Garcia (Northern California)
Diana Garcia is a telecommunications engineer with over three decades working in public safety communications with the California Office of Emergency Services. She holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of California, Davis. Garcia brings a diverse set of skills to her profession designing critical radios systems for the major state agencies, including the California Highway Patrol, Department of Transportation, State Parks and Department of Water Resources, just to name a few.
For the past 10 years, Garcia has provided frequency coordination and licensing services for the state of California. Prior to that, she was involved in radio system integration which encompassed requirements analysis, specification development, equipment procurement, infrastructure configuration, testing and installation, and subscriber radio programming.
She has been an APCO member for over a decade and the Northern California Chapter secretary since 2018. She has served on the Region 6 NPSPAC and 700 MHz Board of Directors since 2012 and is currently the Planning Committee secretary.
Garcia lives in Northern California with her husband and their black feisty cat. She spends her free time connecting with her family and friends and exploring the great outdoors, whether in the mountains, forests, lakes or her garden.
