APCO Seeks Comments on Candidate Standard Managing Operational Overload in the Emergency Communication Center

APCO International December 3, 2021 APCO

Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International is seeking comments for the candidate American National Standard (ANS) Managing Operational Overload in the Emergency Communication Center.

The purpose of this standard is to serve as a guide for emergency communications center staff in their preparation for a multitude of events as they create pre-planning and mitigation documents.

“The impact of natural or man-made disasters present a challenge to any emergency communications centers,” said Jason Kern, APCO International President. “This standard addresses not only the impact of disasters, but covers other incidents that can easily overload the staff including line of duty death, radio malfunctions and cyber security breaches.”

The public may review and comment on this candidate standard from December 3, 2021 to January 17, 2022:  Candidate ANS 1.121.1-20XX Managing Operational Overload in the Emergency Communication Center

For questions, email apcostandards@apcointl.org or contact the Standards Program Manager at (469) 424-7599. For more information on APCO standards activities, please visit our website.
