Representatives from NTIA’s Office of Public Safety Communications provided updates on efforts related to NG9-1-1 and lessons learned from the most recent 9-1-1 grant program. During the presentation, NG9-1-1 Technical Advisor Jay English discussed the importance of comprehensive definitions and understanding of the operational challenges when planning for NG9-1-1 implementation.

“Interoperability of both voice and data services is critical as incidents unfold and expand,” he said. “Properly defined and implemented NG9-1-1 can provide that interoperability.”
