APCO International Releases 3rd Edition of Fire Service Communications Course

APCO International January 12, 2023 APCO

Alexandria, Va. – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International has recently launched an update to the APCO Fire Services Communications (FSC) course. This updated course provides comprehensive training to public safety telecommunicators to advance fire communications training, improve service to callers requesting assistance and increase the safety of field responders. Delivery of the FSC 3rd Edition course begins in April 2023 and is now open for registration.

Content has been rewritten and updated to align with the latest developments in fire service communications. Many new topics have been added or revised and include: NG9-1-1 and next generation technologies; electric vehicles and electric storage systems; terrorism and cyber security, plus additional topics relevant for effective emergency fire service communications.

“The APCO Fire Service Communications course continues to be a vital training opportunity,” says APCO Executive Director and CEO Derek Poarch. “With the ongoing changes and challenges in the fire service industry, it is essential that public safety telecommunicators receive the most up-to-date information for effective 9-1-1 call management. We are pleased to continue to deliver this training to the emergency communications community.”

For those currently certified in the FSC 2nd Edition, two versions of an update course are available at no cost for a limited time to meet recertification requirements:  FSC 3rd Edition, Update and FSC 3rd Edition, Instructor Update. Additional information can be found at FSC 3rd Edition Update Course FAQs for students or FSC 3rd Edition Update Course FAQs for instructors.
