Silent Key: Jennifer Garner

APCO International January 19, 2023 APCO

Southwest (Texas) Regional Communications Center Deputy Director Jennifer Garner, 46, of Waxahachie died Tuesday. Garner had served as Texas APCO secretary. She suffered from cancer.

Colleagues said Garner began her career in public safety communications in 2008 with the College Station Police Department. She took on her post as SWRCC deputy director in 2017 after working five years for the Pearland Police Department.

Colleagues reported that Garner helped plan the Texas Public Safety Conference. Garner advocated on behalf of the industry and favored introducing civilian norms into communications centers. Service details are pending.

“Her zaniness and unique viewpoint on life will be missed. If you knew her, you knew what a fantastic sense of humor she had. She was very sharp witted and quick with a witty response. She was a passionate advocate for public safety communications, and she will be missed,” said friend and colleague Kelle Hall, Communications Manager, Highland Park DPS.
