Aeroflex RF Expansion Module for Avionics Signal Generation and Analysis Wins Test & Measurement World Best in Test Award
WICHITA, Kan.—March 1, 2012—Aeroflex Incorporated, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aeroflex Holding Corp. (NYSE:ARX), announced today that Test & Measurement World magazine has honored Aeroflex with a 2012 Best in Test award in the ATE/Production Test category for its RF Expansion Module (RFEM) for avionics signal generation and analysis.
“Aeroflex is proud to have our new RFEM selected as a ‘Best in Test’ winner. In the RFEM, Aeroflex has extended its use of RF PXI instrumentation into avionics signal generation and analysis. It was also an excellent opportunity to work on a joint development with our international ATE partner Cassidian Test & Services. The support and sponsorship of Honeywell was also critical to the product. We thank both Cassidian and Honeywell for their contributions to this team effort. The aerospace industry will be the ultimate beneficiary,” said John Ardussi, Director of Business Development, Avionics Test, Aeroflex.
The Aeroflex RFEM was introduced into service at All Nippon Airways (ANA) for use with its Cassidian ATEC® Series 6 Automated Test System, one of the most widely used test platforms in the civil aerospace and military aftermarket. The ATEC® Series 6 is used by airlines and OEMs such as Honeywell, Airbus, and Thales. The RFEM, based on Aeroflex’s successful PXI 3000 Series modules, represents a major capability enhancement for the ATEC® Series 6 platform and in the use of RF instrumentation for avionics test.
The product was the result of a three-year joint engineering development effort between Aeroflex and Cassidian, with the support of Honeywell. Honeywell endorsed the development through its Cooperative Agreement with Cassidian, to offer its aftermarket air transport customers “Return to Service” test capability using the Aeroflex RFEM.
