APCO Seeks Comments on Draft Core Competencies and Minimum Training Standards for Public Safety Communications Quality Assurance Evaluator

APCO International December 21, 2012 APCO

Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International released today for comments a Candidate American National Standard (APCO ANS 3.104.1-201x) that identifies the core competencies and minimum training requirements for the Public Safety Communications Quality Assurance Evaluator (QAE).

The QAE administers the Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement process by providing compliance oversight, reviewing, and documenting an evaluation of the level of compliance with Agency directives and standards in an ongoing effort to ensure the highest levels of service to the public and emergency responders.

“Quality Assurance plays a critical role in ensuring emergency calls for service are handled appropriately,” said APCO International President Terry Hall.

The public review and comment period is an important step in the standard development process.  This provides an opportunity for all interested parties to review and contribute. The draft standard can be downloaded for review at http://www.apco911.org/standards/call-to-action-review-a-comment.html.

Comments must be submitted via e-mail to standards@apcointl.org by February 4, 2013.
