Carmel, Ind. – Ritron, Inc. said Tuesday, June 11, 2013 it has delivered an order for 350pcs of the Ritron NXDN digital locomotive radios to the Southeast Pennsylvania Transit Authority (SEPTA) in Philadelphia, PA. Carmel, Indiana-based Ritron, Inc. noted that SEPTA has the 6th-largest U.S. rapid transit system by ridership, and the 5th largest overall U.S. transit system. SEPTA is one of only two U.S. transit authorities that operates all five major types of transit vehicles: regional (commuter) rail trains, “heavy” rapid transit (subway/elevated) trains, light rail vehicles (trolleys), electric trolleybuses, and motor buses.
The radios are Ritron’s single-piece, NXDN digital capable model. The order included both 72VDC powered radios and 36VDC powered radios. The FCC mandated a technology change to narrowband technology over 10 years ago. The Ritron locomotive radio is designed and built in the USA.
