Icom Releases New F5220D Series Multi-Site Trunking Digital Mobile Radio

Company Representative September 3, 2013 Product & Service Announcements

BELLEVUE, WA — Icom America, a leading two-way radio solutions provider for utilities, campuses and healthcare facilities, releases the F5220D Series — a digital land mobile radio operating IDAS 6.25 kHz efficiency technology. The F5220D Series mobile radio provides wide area coverage with IDAS MultiTrunk™ multi-site trunking. IDAS multi-site conventional and single-site trunking is also available. Icom’s new entry-level mobile two-way radio is ideal for on-the-go users who need seamless roaming, rugged construction and digital flexibility on location and between sites.

The F5220D Series offers advanced radio features for optimal mobile operation. Roaming scan automatically finds a new site if a signal’s condition worsens as the user moves (in multi-site trunking mode). The channel announcement function reports the channel number audibly, allowing users to make radio adjustments without having to look at the radio.

The Icom F5220D radio’s 4W front-facing speaker delivers loud audio and superior digital clarity even as subscriber units move through a large regional area. The mobile’s tough aluminum die-cast chassis and polycarbonate front panel are built to MIL-STD 810 specifications. The F5520D Series is GPS compatible when connected with an optional accessory cable and required GPS software. Supplied accessories include a handheld mic, mic hanger, DC power cable and mounting bracket kit.

As part of Icom’s IDAS product line, the F5220D/F6220D VHF/UHF mobile utilizes the NXDN™ common air interface. IDAS provides 15-bit digital encryption for secure conversation and supports digital mode features such as short data messages, stun/kill/revive functionality, emergency call and more. With IDAS MultiTrunk, land mobile radio users can interconnect IDAS trunking sites via IP to create a large roaming coverage area.

The F5220D Series is available now with a suggested retail price of $698.00. For more information, visit the F5220D Series product page on Icom America’s website.
