Silent Key: Julie Thomas
The South Carolina Chapter of APCO tragically lost one of our sisters, Julie Thomas, in a fire at her home in the morning hours of July 12. Thomas was a member of APCO and a public safety communicator for the past 15 years with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. She leaves behind 2 daughters, Tiffany (17) and Caitlin (18), and her eight-month-old granddaughter, Christine.
Thomas will always carry a place in our hearts and memories as a dedicated, outspoken giver. She was referred to as Julie “Crime Fighter” Justus by her shift, and she was known as the guru for anything regarding the National Crime Information Center. Thomas took great pride in her work and never treated anyone like a stranger. Thomas’ giving and nurturing spirit not only resided in her professional manner, but also in her personal life. She was an avid lover of animals, photography, kayaking and the outdoors.
Services were held for Thomas at Barnwell Calvary Baptist Church on July 17 at 3:00 p.m.
The Executive Board of South Carolina APCO asks for your continued prayers for her family and her public safety communications family at Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
