John Wright’s Term as APCO President Ends
John Wright concluded his term as President of APCO International this week, saying it was an honor to hold the position.
“APCO International boasts a remarkable tradition and legacy of leadership, and I’m proud to have served as one in a long chain of leaders,” Wright said.
Wright reflected on many of the accomplishments of the past year including: work on the Long Range Strategic Plan to lead the association over the next five years; a partnership with NENA and the four major cellular service providers, in which APCO led the charge for improved indoor cellular location accuracy for our citizens, resulting in a commitment by the carriers to a roadmap to improve indoor location accuracy; completion of location accuracy when it was unanimously approved by the FCC; and creation of a new Cybersecurity Committee and a 4.9 GHz Task Force to look at the issues in the ever-evolving technical arenas and their impacts on public safety.
“I want to thank you, the membership of this great association, for allowing me to have had the great honor of serving you as your President,” Wright said. “I believe that holding this office should never be about the individual, or gaining some higher level of perceived self-importance, it is solely about serving the Association and each of you, its members. This experience has been the true highlight of my professional career, and I am hopeful that during my term I served you well.”
