Silent Key: Dianne Beatty
Long-time APCO adjunct instructor and teacher Diane Beatty passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side Oct. 8, 2015. Beatty worked in the public safety communications industry for more than 25 years, serving in a variety of positions at a communications center ranging from dispatcher to manager. Beatty was a 9-1-1 professional development specialist for the Allegheny County Emergency Services in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she coordinated, developed and instructed 9-1-1 center new hire and continuing education. As an APCO adjunct instructor, she facilitated PST I, CTO and communication center supervisor web classes. She also served on the local emergency management team and held a board position for the Pittsburgh Technical Institute. She was a member of the Pennsylvania chapter of APCO.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Stefanie) Spolter; her daughter, Jill (Alex) McClung; and son, Aaron Beatty; also survived by her granddaughter, Kendra Spolter; her siblings, Karen (Chris) Jarrett, Billy Lee Johnston and Beverly Baker. A memorial service was held at Carnegie United Methodist Church October 10 to celebrate the life of Diane Beatty.
