APCO Applauds AT&T’s New Service That Supports NG9-1-1
Alexandria, VA – Today, AT&T announced a new nationwide service designed to accelerate the adoption of Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1). According to the announcement, AT&T ESInet will be deployed in collaboration with West Corporation (formerly Intrado) to enable IP-based communications that allow 9-1-1 public safety answering points (PSAPs) to route more detailed information more quickly and receive data such as pictures and video. The solution will be available in the second half of 2016.
“I congratulate AT&T for launching this service,” said APCO President Brent Lee. “Making reliable and secure IP-based networks available for PSAPs is an essential step toward realizing the benefits of next generation capabilities. APCO looks forward to working with industry leaders like AT&T to drive progress toward a complete NG9-1-1 ecosystem that meets public safety’s needs.”
