Meet Your AFC Advisors: Joseph Yurman (New York)
AFC, APCO’s frequency coordination department, is pleased to introduce its network of dedicated local advisor volunteers. APCO’s advisors are responsible for frequency coordination in their home state and we would like to bring awareness and recognition to the dedication they exhibit on a daily basis. Joseph Yurman is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of New York employed by the New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA) Department of Capital Program Management ‐ Communications Engineering Division. He is the lead Principal Engineer for Wireless Communications. Joseph holds a Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from NYU‐Polytechnic University. His duties include managing the agency’s spectrum and FCC licenses, supervising engineering design/field staff involved in the implementation of large scale capital communications projects. Joseph is a Senior and Life Member of APCO and a proud member of the Atlantic Chapter of APCO. He has been a local advisor since 2003 being mentored since the early 1990’s by Past President Vincent Stile and former local advisor Mary Tornetta. He is an active member of the local 700 and 800 MHz Regional Planning Committees applying his engineering background and experience on technical subcommittees. Joseph has been serving his local community for 34 years as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician responding to 911 calls for medical and rescue calls. He is married to Lisa and is the proud father of Matthew and Christopher who are both BSA Eagle Scouts.
