LYNCHBURG, Va., June 18, 2018 — Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS) has enhanced its VIDA® (Voice, Interoperability, Data and Access) network – expanding the product offerings for customers transitioning from analog to digital Project 25 (P25) communication systems.
The new VIDA® SR10A.4 system release enables customers to bring mutual aid and paging solutions into the network and delivers critical interoperability between VIDA® and legacy communication systems, as well as the Harris TB9400 base station, powered by Tait. Additionally, users can now affordably migrate from analog to P25 via the Harris Encompass Gateway™, an application that runs on the VIDA® core.
The system release also includes an update to the Harris Symphony®dispatch console – providing enhanced conventional features for dispatchers, such as radio emergencies and base station control, and a new management feature that allows dispatch supervisors to remotely control consoles.
“These expanded offerings allow our customers to migrate to modern P25-capable devices at their own pace while taking advantage of powerful capabilities of VIDA®,” said Ryan Carson, director, strategy and product line management, Harris Communication Systems. “These capabilities strengthen our position on open standards and interoperability.”
