Silent Key: Morton Leifer
Morton Leifer, 83, of New City, New York, passed away Wednesday in the Bronx. Morty was an APCO Local Advisor-Frequency Coordinator for several years in New York, and was named Frequency Advisor of the Year for 2015. He was co-chair of RPC-8 and was a member of the P25 CAP Advisory Panel.
Morty served as the Electronic Communications Specialist for the Clarkstown New York Police Department since 1973 and served as professor and chairman of the Information and Engineering Technology Division of SUNY Rockland Community College from 1972 to June 2006. He was awarded the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service. He had an electrical engineering degree from New York University and was a Registered Professional Engineer in New York state.
Funeral Services for Morty Leifer will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2018, 10:30 AM, at Hellman Memorial Chapels, 15 State Street, Spring Valley, New York.
Interment will follow at Gates of Zion Cemetery, 670 Saddle River Road, Airmont, New York.
Shiva will be sat at Morty’s home, at 16 Tavo Lane, New City, NY, during the hours of 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., beginning Sunday evening until Friday afternoon.
