APCO Files a Project Initiation and Seeks Workgroup Members to Revise Standard for Emergency Communications Center CAD ASAP Automated Secure Alarm Protocol
Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International has filed a Project Initiation with ANSI and has issued a call for workgroup members to participate in the revision of the ANSI standard that provides the technical documentation for creating a data exchange to transmit information between an Alarm Monitoring Company and an Emergency Communications Center (ECC).
The three primary uses include initial notification of an alarm event by an alarm monitoring company to an ECC; update of status by the ECC’s CAD system to the alarm monitoring company; and bi-directional update of other events between an alarm monitoring company and an ECC.
“This standard enables CAD vendors and alarm monitoring companies to provide a data exchange for ECCs to increase efficiencies and reduce errors,” said Holly Wayt, President of APCO International.
APCO International is looking for a well-balanced group that will include contributions from technical and operational subject matter experts. The time and day that the working group will meet is yet to be established. It is anticipated that the working group will meet via conference calls twice a month for the duration of this project. Calls typically last no more than one-hour per session.
All interested persons should complete the online application and indicate their preference for this workgroup.
The application deadline is May 26, 2019. Selections will be made within two weeks of the deadline and all applicants will be notified of their status.
