VisionAIR Announces Changes in Positioning for Growth
Castle Hayne, N.C. — VisionAIR, provider of the integrated Public Safety Suite of software, announces changes to position the company for growth. “VisionAIR is embarking on a bold, new path offering Public Safety and Justice practitioners best-in-class software and services while positioning the company to achieve many new and ambitious goals over the coming decade,” said VisionAIR’s President and CEO Mike Lyons.
At the center of this announcement are major releases of each of the company’s products within the VisionAIR Public Safety Suite, including VisionCAD, VisionRMS, VisionMOBILE, and VisionFBR (VisionAIR’s field reporting software). Built on proven Microsoft technology, these releases introduce Silverlight and Windows Workflow Foundation into the Public Safety Suite. “This represents an ongoing strategic commitment to the company’s clients and to the industry at large,” Lyons went on to say.
The suite-wide upgrade is the result of a fourteen-month effort to develop and introduce a broad array of product and technology enhancements. Today, these products are in selected field trials with release dates beginning the end of December 2010.
Behind the scenes, the company made a series of changes to its organizational framework; notably, the introduction of three executive management positions that will be key components of VisionAIR’s plans for continued expansion, and the introduction of new products and cost-effective delivery models.
The newly developed position of Chief Product Officer is being filled by Mr. Scott MacDonald. Scott came to VisionAIR by way of Motorola, Inc., where he directed product teams in the design, development, and delivery of a next generation line of public safety applications. Scott has been Vice President of Products at VisionAIR for the past year. This new position will consolidate product development and product management functions under a unified organization. “Scott will be drawing upon his vision for public safety automation and a detailed knowledge of the current and future technology needs of clients to guide the company’s future product offerings,” said Mike Lyons.
Gary Bunyard, previously VisionAIR’s Vice President of Business Development, has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Bunyard brings extensive public safety software industry experience to this position. His history of successful management at Tiburon, Inc., a law enforcement software vendor, included the highest rates of long-term growth seen by that organization. Mike Lyons said, “Through his energy, commitment to clients, and continuous focus on business development, Gary will be a driving force in VisionAIR’s growth and success.”
The newly established position of Chief Financial Officer is being filled by Mr. Sam Hensley. Sam has guided the company’s financial plans as Executive Director of Finance for the last twelve years. “His strong grasp of financial controls and planning have been instrumental in the company’s history of sustained profitability“, said Mike Lyons, “Sam will play a significant role in this new position as he plots the company’s ambitious financial plans for the years ahead.”
VisionAIR’s principal investor, Southeast Interactive Technology Funds, has expressed excitement regarding the new plans and changes. Southeast’s Managing General Partner and VisionAIR board member, Norvell Miller, stated, “These product releases and organizational changes represent the next steps in the aggressive strategy that the company began many months ago. It is consistent with our expectations for market leadership, commitment to our clients, and expectations of increasing shareholder value.”
The announcement of a redefined executive management team is being combined with the establishment of several new Director positions and the realignment of resources in select areas of the company, all as part of a plan to create a more agile, responsive organization. According to Mike Lyons, “We are further empowering our trusted managers and repositioning our resources to support innovation and initiative. This will translate directly into greater value for everyone: clients, prospects, shareholders, and employees.”
