Douglas, Ma. — A draft agreement for a feasibility study to regionalize emergency dispatch services among Douglas, Northbridge, Sutton, Uxbridge and Upton will be presented to selectmen for approval at the their next meeting, Town Administrator Michael J. Guzinski told the board at its Jan. 4 meeting.

The five-town initiative, led by Douglas Police Chief Patrick T. Foley following the retirement of Fire Chief Donald Gonynor, received a $110,000 grant from the state for a feasibility study several months ago.

This is the third year in which state grants have been awarded to fund such projects as building regional emergency communications centers, purchasing call center equipment, improving the infrastructure of existing regional 911 communications and conducting feasibility studies for regionalizing services, according to a press release from Gov. Deval L. Patrick’s office.

Consulting firm CGR was selected to conduct the five-town study, Mr. Guzinski said. “They would map out exactly how a regional dispatch would work and the best way for the towns to go about it.”
