Worcester, Mass. — Massachusetts State Police 911 dispatchers Emily Mearian and Joseph Fantini, both of Worcester, were recognized at the Massachusetts State 911 Department’s fourth annual awards ceremony at Mechanics Hall yesterday.
Ms. Mearian was honored for her work in an incident in which she surmised from a 911 caller’s manner of speaking that she was fearful of being overheard. Ms. Mearian let police know the caller’s location, resulting in her rescue and the arrest of the person intimidating her.
Mr. Fantini received information about a robbery, and used resources at his disposal to find a vehicle and its owner, resulting in the prompt arrest of the suspect.
