Catalyst Demonstrates Broadband PTT Radio

Catalyst Communications Technologies Inc., a leading provider of Radio over IP solutions to the Push-To-Talk marketplace, today demonstrated a new implementation of its LTE ready IP|Soft RadioTM product line. IP|Soft Radio provides a highly graphical, customizable user interface for commercial off the shelf computing devices. First Responders can simultaneously monitor multiple channels on a single device with intuitive graphical controls and presentations through a touch screen interface, while also running other applications on the same device. Audio and control messages can be routed via LTE, WiMax, EV-DO, Wi-Fi and other broadband formats using a private network or a commercial service to provide national coverage.

911 Files Don’t Show Why Police Were Sent to Wrong Address

August 22, 2011

AUGUSTA, Maine — The Maine Department of Public Safety on Friday released written transcripts of the 911 calls involving the murder of Sarah Gordon in Winslow the night of June 6, shedding new light on the emergency response to the killing. But the transcripts, which were created in response to an open records request by the Morning Sentinel, still don’t answer a fundamental question: Why were police initially dispatched to the wrong address?

ProCHRT’s Final Report

August 19, 2011

The APCO International Professional Communications Human Resources Taskforce (ProCHRT) released its final report and recommendations on Aug. 5 during the APCO conference in Philadelphia. During the Aug. 7 First General Business Session in Philadelphia, task force Chair Steve Souder told the APCO leadership, “For the last year, the [ProCHRT] task force gathered information and stats. Unfortunately today, even though that [final] report is 51 pages, it still rates an F.”
