Finances Threaten Sequatchie 9-1-1 Office

March 2, 2011

Chattanooga, Tenn. — The Sequatchie County 9-1-1 office could be put under Tennessee Emergency Communications Board supervision if a recent audit shows it in the red for a third consecutive year, officials say. Sequatchie County commissioners last week approved $40,000 for the county’s 9-1-1 District to keep the department running until the end of the fiscal year on June 30.

Emergency Locator Bracelet Leads to Missing Long Beach Man

Long Beach, Calif. — An elderly man who wandered away from his downtown home earlier this week was found safe with the help of an emergency locator bracelet, police said Friday. Police dispatchers learned the man was given a free emergency locator bracelet as part of the police department’s Safe Reunion/Long Beach program. Once the bracelet was activated the man was quickly found.

Lancaster County Gets OK for New Radio System

February 28, 2011

Lancaster, Pa. — Lancaster County’s stalled efforts to build a new emergency radio system are up and running again. The commissioners on Thursday announced the Federal Communications Commission has granted the county’s request to take over a television communications band (T-band) for its emergency system.
