Boone County, Mo., Pursues Help for 9-1-1 Call Center Staff

From 2006, one left for the Virginia State Police. From 2007, one left for a local restaurant. From last year, one left for Franklin County’s call center.

August 19, 2011The APCO International Professional Communications Human Resources Taskforce (ProCHRT) released its final report and recommendations on Aug. 5 during the APCO conference in Philadelphia. During the Aug. 7 First General Business Session in Philadelphia, task force Chair Steve Souder told the APCO leadership, “For the last year, the [ProCHRT] task force gathered information and stats. Unfortunately today, even though that [final] report is 51 pages, it still rates an F.”

The Interim Report on Challenges Facing Human Resources & Staffing in the 9-1-1 Public Safety Communications Center stated, “We can only conclude, at the writing of this interim report, that the nation would rank an F [with regard to both training and retirement benefits]. … The preliminary findings should raise concern in every locality and state in the country.”
